Zoofari

Hi fellow bloggers
This week we went to Auckland zoo on a zoofari trip. We slept in the old elephant house. We also went on a night safari. Here is a picture of a tiger that I saw.

I am working on an animal report about servals and I saw one! It was smaller than I thought it would be. Did you know that cheetahs aren't the fastest animal in the world! They are the fastest land animal.

So I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

My basic facts and multiplication progress

Hi fellow bloggers, Here is my basic facts progress for this year. I am on stage six and I am improving on stage six. Here are my scores for term 1 and 2 I have improved since last term.

Zebra Report

Hi fellow bloggers, I had to do a zebra report. I had to do about 20 bullet points and made it into a report........

Zebra Report
Did you know that? Each Zebra has a unique white and black pattern and their skin is protected from insects by rolling in mud. Zebras are mammals, that means they are warm blooded. When baby Zebra foals are born they have brown and white stripes. The scientific name for a Zebra is Equus Quagga.

Did you know? Zebras are related to donkeys and horses. They have one hoof on each leg. Their stripes help them camouflage in long wavy grass, they like to roll in mud and when it dries they shake it off along with loose hair and dry skin. A Zebra’s hoof is an enlarged (becomes large) toenail. Zebras don’t have colour vision but their eyes can see better at night. Zebra’s necks are short and stiff.

Zebras eat a diet of shrubs, herbs, twigs, leaves and bark and eat a variety of grass. They are herbivores and don’t hunt for food. They are not picky eaters and aren't fussy about what they are eating. Zebras will travel up to 1,800 miles to search of food.

Wild zebras live in Africa, zebras are native to Africa and live in a herd up to 5 or 15 Zebras. Zebras are found on grasslands, along the edge of the desert in eastern Africa and are found across southwestern Africa. African animals are very noisy. The mountain zebra’s are found in South Africa, Namibia and Angola.

These are the zebra’s predators: lions, spotted hyenas, leopards, hunting dogs, crocodiles and cheetahs. Humans are killing zebras for their skins. Zebras don’t freeze when they hear danger coming.

Zebras run up to 40 miles per hour and they live up to 25 years. They love to roll in mud and dust. Did you know that zebras confuse their predators with their stripes when the zebra herd is planning to escape? Zebras recognize each other with their own individual black and white stripe pattern. When a baby zebra (known as a foal) is in the mother's tummy it stays in there for 13 Months.

Zebras are special and have beautiful, unique stripe patterns. They are an iconic animal to Africa and are an important animal to take care of.

Argument Writing Speech

Hi bloggers, This week I have been working on an argument writing speech. I had to find out why we should eat healthy and it had to be between two and 3 minutes, so I hope you enjoy my speech:)

Why we should eat healthy.

Hi my name is Sara and I’m going to talk to you about why we should eat healthy, do you think we should eat healthy too? Here are my reasons why we should eat healthy:

First of all, it will keep you alive and you will become strong and fit so you can run. Did you know that fruit and vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to be healthy? Healthy bodies work well but if you eat too much candy it will make you sick and you’ll feel dizzy. Candy will get stuck in your teeth and you will need fillings and that will cost money, and you want to spend that money on healthy food don’t you?

Secondly, healthy food won’t make you sick. But don’t eat too much healthy food in a whole day you have to have a variety of food, if you don’t know what variety mean’s I’ll tell you, variety means eat a selection of food, like Carbohydrates. Here are some Carbohydrates food: pasta, rice, breakfast cereal, noodles, potatoes, oats and so much more. Next is the protein group. Here are some foods from the protein group: seafood, beans, peas, eggs, meat, nuts and seeds. There are still a lot of food groups to go through so I’m just going to name them: We have the milk and dairy products the fruit and vegetable group, and the sugar group. Oh the sugar group -too much sugar will cause obesity and type 2 diabetes. So a variety of food is what makes us healthy really. A balance diet is a healthy diet.

Lastly, it helps our own brain get healthy so we think better and things that aren’t nice don’t pop out of our mouth. Did you know that when you eat healthy you create new healthy cells in our body?

Plus you don’t get lots of packaging if you are buying fruit and vegetables. OK!!! I have to admit that some healthy food you get from the supermarket have packaging, But that is another whole speech on packaging.

That's why I think we should eat healthy, we need our five + a day to make us healthy. But remember don’t eat too many sweets it will make you sick.  That's why I told you about a balanced diet and remember you still need to eat food. So I hope I convinced you to eat more healthy and enjoy the difference of eating healthy. Thanks for listening.
